Mar-eh Makom (literally “show of place”) is a term of reference or redirection. The books on view highlight quotes used in local culture and the diverse sources they draw from — nature, built environment, politics, and society.
Each book also reflects the craft of local book design, where material and formal choices — from typefaces to layout — turn it into an object of both textual and cultural significance.
The exhibition design treats the book as a visual object — a piece to be looked at as much as read. Each book is displayed to highlight its materiality, emphasizing its presence not only as a vessel of content but as a designed artifact in its own right.
The stands were individually designed as closed geometric forms, allowing for varied and unique book placements. Raised delicately on slender legs, the stands elevate the books to an ideal height for reading and browsing, inviting intimate engagement while preserving the book’s aura as a curated object on display.
In collaboration with The Print House (Re’a), expanded the singular, restricted perception of an image into the larger context that constitutes a book. A selection of enlarged photographs and illustrations allows viewers to perceive an image as a complete work of its own.
